Mechthild Esser Nemmers Prize in Medical Science is awarded to those whose body of research exhibits outstanding achievement in medical science as demonstrated by works of lasting significance.

Welch Award in Chemistry

The purpose of The Welch Award in Chemistry is to foster and encourage basic chemical research and to recognize, in a substantial manner, the value of chemical research contributions for the benefit of mankind.Any person can be considered for the award who has made important chemical research contributions which have had a significant, positive influence on mankind.  The award is intended to recognize contributions that have not previously been rewarded in a similar manner.

Wiley Prize in Biomedical Sciences

The Wiley Prize recognizes a specific contribution or series of contributions that demonstrate significant leadership in the development of research concepts or their clinical application. Particular emphasis is placed on research that champions novel approaches and challenges accepted thinking in the biomedical sciences.

Taubman Prize For Excellence in Translational Medical Science

This award is presented annually by the A. Alfred Taubman Medical Research Institute at the University of Michigan. It is meant to recognize work in the crucial field of translational research being conducted by the clinician-scientist who has done the most to transform laboratory discoveries into clinical applications for patients suffering from disease.

Ilse L Helmut Wachter Award

For exceptional scientific acheivements in all fields of medicine and is open to scinetists of all nationalities. Self-nominations are not accepted.Nominations must be in writing and include:

AAAS Martin and Rose Wachtel Cancer Research Award

AAAS and Science Translational Medicine invite applications for the inaugural AAAS Martin and Rose Wachtel Cancer Research Award. This annual award, funded by an endowment established through a generous bequest from Martin L. Wachtel, will honor an early-career investigator who has performed outstanding work in the field of cancer research. Entrants must have received their Ph.D. or M.D. within the last 10 years. The award winner will be invited to deliver a public lecture on his or her research and will receive a cash award of $25,000.

Basser Global Prize

The Basser Global Prize has been established to honor a visionary scientist who has conceptually advanced BRCA1/2 related research that has led to improvements in clinical care. The prize will be considered for a broad range of basic, translational and clinical BRCA1/2 cancer researchers worldwide. Outstanding candidates will be those whose research has produced seminal advances in the field and who continue to drive BRCA1/2 related research towards the ultimate goal of mitigating the adverse impact of deleterious BRCA1/2 and related mutations.

American Society for Cell Biology E.B. Wilson Medal

The ASCB's highest honor for science, the E.B. Wilson Medal is presented at the Annual Meeting of the Society for far-reaching contributions to cell biology over a lifetime in science.Nominators must be members of the ASCB but nominees need not be. The nominating package should include the candidate's CV and no fewer than three and no more than five letters of support.

Canada Gairdner Wightman Award

The annual award of $100,000 is given to a scientist who has demonstrated outstanding national leadership in medicine and medical science in Canada consistent with the purpose of Gairdner. It is given for:-leadership in a specific field of biomedical sciences (basic, clinical, population health) in Canada and/or original and sustained contributions to that field at an internationally recognized level.

Canada Gairdner International Awards

The award recognizes outstanding biomedical scientists who have made original contributions to medicine with the goal of contributing, through research, to increased understanding of human biology and disease. The award recognizes an original, seminal contribution or discovery, rather than a lifetime of work.  Gairdner invites the scientific community to nominate qualified scientists from any branch of biomedicine.
