Ilse & Helmut Wachter-Award

The award is given for exceptional scientific achievements in all fields of medicine and is open to scientists of all nationalities. The winner will be determined by the Organs of the Foundation from worldwide nominations; self-nominations will not be accepted. Nominations must be in writing and must include the curriculum vitae of the nominee, a list of his/her most important publications and a detailed report of the relevance of the scientific achievement, which is to be honoured.

Prize Amount: 
15,000 Euros

Federation of American Societies in Experiemental Biology Excellence in Science Award

The FASEB Excellence in Science Award is given in recognition of outstanding achievement by women in biological science.  The Excellence in Science Award is sponsored solely by FASEB to recognize outstanding achievement by women in biological science.  All women who are members of one or more of the societies of FASEB will be eligible for nomination. Nominations recognize a woman whose career achievements have contributed significantly to further our understanding of a particular discipline by excellence in research.

Canada Gairdner Global Health Award

The Canada Gairdner Global Health Award is directed at health issues pertaining to developing countries. It recognizes those who have made major scientific advances in any one of four areas: basic science, clinical science, or population or environmental health. These advances must have made – or have potential to make – a significant impact on health outcomes in the developing world. Nominations for leadership and administration, however outstanding, do not fall within the parameters of this award.

Canada Gairdner International Awards

The award recognizes outstanding biomedical scientists who have made original contributions to medicine with the goal of contributing, through research, to increased understanding of human biology and disease. The award recognizes an original, seminal contribution or discovery, rather than a lifetime of work.  Gairdner invites the scientific community to nominate qualified scientists from any branch of biomedicine.

Lewis S. Rosenstiel Award for Distinguished Work in Basic Medical Science

In 1971, the Lewis S. Rosenstiel Award for Distinguished Work in Basic Medical Resarch was established as an expression of the conviction that educational institutions have an important role to play in the encouragement and development of basic science as it applies to medicine.

The Ernst H. Bárány Prize

The Council of ISER awards an International Prize in honor of Professor Ernst H. Bárány, for his distinguished work in the field of ocular pharmacology. This award is presented to a distinguished scientist who has made outstanding contributions in research that increases our understanding of ocular pharmacology directly related to or applicable to glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, or related retinal diseases. The Ernst H. Bárány Prize is awarded at each Biennial Meeting of the Society of Eye Research.

The Harvey Prize

The Harvey Prize rewards excellence by recognizing breakthroughs in science and technology. The monetary Prize is a banner of recognition for men and women who have truly contributed to the progress of humanity. No less, however, the Prize is a source of inspiration. Serving as stimulus, the award urges scientists and scholars forward to further accomplishment.

The Pierre Galletti Award-American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering

The award is presented to an individual in recognition of his/her contributions to public awareness of medical and biological engineering, and to the promotion of the national interest in science, engineering and education. The Galletti Award is the highest honor that AIMBE bestows on an individual.

Albany Medical Center Prize in Medicine and Biomedical Research

The Albany Medical Center Prize has been created to provide national and international recognition to a physician, biomedical scientist, or group of physicians or scientists, who have made extraordinary and sustained leadership contributions to improving healthcare and patient care; or who have successfully pursued innovative biomedical research with demonstrated translational benefits applied to improved patient care.
