Taubman Prize For Excellence in Translational Medical Science

This award is presented annually by the A. Alfred Taubman Medical Research Institute at the University of Michigan. It is meant to recognize work in the crucial field of translational research being conducted by the clinician-scientist who has done the most to transform laboratory discoveries into clinical applications for patients suffering from disease.

Vilcek Prize For Creative Promise in Biomedical Science

The Vilcek Foundation will award three prizes of $50,000 each to young foreign-born biomedical scientists who demonstrate outstanding early achievement. Eligible work may be in basic, applied, and/or translational biomedical science.

Ilse & Helmut Wachter-Award

The award is given for exceptional scientific achievements in all fields of medicine and is open to scientists of all nationalities. The winner will be determined by the Organs of the Foundation from worldwide nominations; self-nominations will not be accepted. Nominations must be in writing and must include the curriculum vitae of the nominee, a list of his/her most important publications and a detailed report of the relevance of the scientific achievement, which is to be honoured.

THE DANONE INTERNATIONAL PRIZE FOR NUTRITION

The 2013 DANONE INTERNATIONAL PRIZE FOR NUTRITION recognizes a single researcher or research team leading a major advancement in nutrition science, including new concepts and research fields with potential application for human diet and health. The innovative research, including mechanisms, disease prevention and management, behavior, economics, public health, or expanding the frontiers of food science and nutrition, are within scope.

Federation of American Societies in Experiemental Biology Excellence in Science Award

The FASEB Excellence in Science Award is given in recognition of outstanding achievement by women in biological science.  The Excellence in Science Award is sponsored solely by FASEB to recognize outstanding achievement by women in biological science.  All women who are members of one or more of the societies of FASEB will be eligible for nomination. Nominations recognize a woman whose career achievements have contributed significantly to further our understanding of a particular discipline by excellence in research.

Pearl Meister Greengard Prize

The Pearl Meister Greengard Prize The Pearl Meister Greengard Prize was created through the vision and generosity of Nobel Laureate and Vincent Astor Professor Paul Greengard and his wife, the sculptor Ursula von Rydingsvard. The prize honors the accomplishments of women scientists and is named in memory of Dr. Greengard’s mother,  and includes a $100,000 honorarium. By putting the spotlight on the accomplishments of women scientists, Dr. Greengard hopes to increase the likelihood that women will receive their fair share of the highest honors in science.

Canada Gairdner Wightman Award

The annual award of $100,000 is given to a scientist who has demonstrated outstanding national leadership in medicine and medical science in Canada consistent with the purpose of Gairdner. It is given for:-leadership in a specific field of biomedical sciences (basic, clinical, population health) in Canada and/or original and sustained contributions to that field at an internationally recognized level.

Canada Gairdner International Awards

The award recognizes outstanding biomedical scientists who have made original contributions to medicine with the goal of contributing, through research, to increased understanding of human biology and disease. The award recognizes an original, seminal contribution or discovery, rather than a lifetime of work.  Gairdner invites the scientific community to nominate qualified scientists from any branch of biomedicine.
